Scholarships

The scholarship application closes September 7.

NESAWG offers scholarships to help make our conference accessible to youth, students, farmers, and low-income people. (Youth is defined as under 25 years of age.)  Full scholarships cover the total registration costs of the main conference (Friday and Saturday), while partial scholarships cover 50% of the fee.

NESAWG travel scholarships are also available for youth. Travel scholarships are awarded in addition to registration scholarships and can be used to cover costs incurred while traveling to or at the conference, including transportation, tolls, parking, meals and lodging. Youth registration and travel scholarships are available to attend one or both days of the main conference.

In selecting scholarship recipients, NESAWG prioritizes the following:

  • Financial Need
  • Underrepresented groups in sustainable food systems work (including but not limited to people of color, veterans, those living with a disability, LGBTQ individuals, new Americans, and refugees.)
  • Community leaders and emerging leaders
  • Food system sector diversity
  • Youth and students
  • Farmers

Scholarships for registration and travel costs are also available from the New York State Health Foundation (funding is limited and offered at their discretion, apply online) and New England Grassroots Environment Fund's Seed Grant program. The Grassroots Fund supports innovative, community-driven environmental projects for frontline New England communities. Is attending #NESAWG18 an integral part of your group's mission, vision or strategy?
