A New Year’s Resolution You’ll Want to Keep: Green Your Community and Reduce Your Food Waste – Lessons From the Field
Join The Chesapeake Foodshed Network for our first webinar of the year! Co-hosted by University of Maryland’s Harry Hughes Center for Agroecology and the Environmental Finance Center, we will be discussing lessons learned in the field while working to reduce Food Waste in the Chesapeake Bay region.
Did you know- an estimated one third of all food produced world-wide is wasted somewhere between the field and the fork? This uneaten food produces a greater greenhouse gas footprint bigger than any country alone! This doesn't even account for the devastating misuse of resources like food system workers' time and energy, gasoline, fertilizer, and other petroleum products, topsoil, and water.
Let's jumpstart a productive dialogue to work together as the Chesapeake Region to reduce food waste in our foodshed. Join us, and share your ideas and experiences!
The Chesapeake Foodshed Network is a group of organizations, agencies, and individuals working across the Chesapeake watershed to build a stronger and more resilient food system. Learn more and get involved at www.chesapeakefoodshed.net.
