LEARN MORE ABOUT THE FIGHT FOR PERMANENT PROTECTION, DIGNITY, AND RESPECT FOR ALL UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS!

11:30-1:30: Teach-In on the National Day Without Immigrants, with leaders from the national immigrant movementCosecha
1:45-3:45 (?): Action-Taking in downtown Northampton and in support of undocumented workers in our town

On May 1st, students, faculty and staff of Smith College as well as immigrants and allies in Northampton will join in a national strike, “A Day without Immigrants”. We will not go to school, we will not go to work, and we will not buy anything. This will be the biggest immigrant-led strike in 10 years.

In preparation for this strike, on April 22nd at Smith College, there will be the amazing opportunity to learn directly from the organizers and leaders of this immigrant-led movement.

Cosecha, is a nonviolent movement fighting for permanent protection, dignity and respect for immigrants in the U.S. including the 11 million undocumented immigrants. Through boycotts and strikes, Cosecha is building the resistance that will dramatically shift the public opinion around immigration in this country. We are going to make it clear that this country cannot function without immigrants. This is only the beginning of our fight toward permanent protection, dignity and respect.

Let's build momentum for the May 1st strike! Following the training we will have an ACTION in the streets. Don’t worry if you cannot come to both events on the 22nd, come to what you can. We want to see you there!

As we saw during the campus shutdowns in November and the sanctuary campus movement, students have a critical role to play in making this movement a success. Come learn more about your integral role in this nonviolent movement.
