Farm Bill Survey Report Back
So far, 28 organizations have completed NESAWG’s Farm Bill survey– thank you so much to everyone who has weighed in! Between the organizations who have participated, we have organizational relationships with over 30 Northeast Members of Congress, with over half of those identified as particularly supportive of sustainable agriculture. There are also a wide range of policy priorities that come to the fore (represented in the word cloud above!) Some of the most common things we want to see in the 2023 Farm Bill include:
- Funding for local and regional food systems infrastructure, including investments in the Local Agricultural Marketing Program
- Increased support for 1:1 business and technical assistance
- Support for BIPOC farmers, including land access, TA, and more
- A Farm Bill that addresses systemic inequities
- Land access programs
- Support for conservation, organics, and climate resilience
- Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Development Program funding
- Programs that support food access and local foods
