Policy

NESAWG engages our network in federal public policy advocacy to strengthen sustainable food systems in the Northeast.

We prioritize policy issues based on alignment with our core values, relevance to NESAWG network participants, and ability to increase equity and sustainability in the Northeast.

NESAWG does not run its own campaigns or create coalitions, but rather engages our network in support of the campaigns and coalitions created by our partners, prioritizing the issues that matter to our network. Our partners include National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, Rural Coalition, Good Food For All, and other regional and national groups.

We are currently working to ensure the Farm Bill is implemented equitably and support programs, funding, and sustainable agriculture in our region. Other issues we cover include immigration, climate change, and the National Association for State Departments of Agriculture. Learn more.
