Organization:
The Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA-VT) is hiring a seasonal contractor to manage our mobile, wood-fired oven. The purpose of the oven is to 1) Promote NOFA-VT to new and renewing members and be a presence in different communities throughout Vermont, 2) Market organic farms and local products, and 3) Educate consumers through a unique food experience. We are seeking an experienced baker, with a flexible schedule, for the 2015 summer and fall season.
Job Responsibilities
• Baking at events statewide (or coordinating consulting cook) throughout the summer and fall.
• Sourcing all ingredients for events
• Oven transport to and from event
• On-site preparation of toppings, potential pre-event prep
• Dough preparation (for pizza events)
• Maintain equipment inventory and take responsibility for equipment being cleaned after each event and returned to storage.
▪ Keep work area, tools and supplies clean, organized and sanitary throughout the event.
• Program promotion: Promote NOFA’s mission and marketing message at events.
• Event evaluation – track quantity of doughs/toppings/cheese (or other products) used at each event
• Oversee event staff and interns, and provide training and guidance.
• Ensure that product and process meets Vermont health standards and fair stand product safety guidelines.
Job Qualifications
We are seeking an experienced baker who is organized, can work independently with minimum supervision, can multi-task, can train summer baking interns and work well with a rotating staff, is organized, can keep records and has strong interpersonal skills.
All equipment is provided for this job including vehicle, mobile oven and all baking equipment.
