Land Access Innovations Training
April 26, 2017 (All day) to April 27, 2017 (All day)
Near Burlington, VT- Exact location TBD
Offered by National Young Farmers Coalition (NYFC) and the Vermont Land Trust (VLT)
NYFC and the Vermont Land Trust are teaming up to offer an intensive training on VLT's Farmland Access Program. VLT will share lessons learned from over a decade of implementing and enforcing Working Farm Easements with Affordability Provisions (Option to Purchase at Agricultural Value) as well as building their holistic land access program. In addition, the training will include information about the partnerships VLT has formed with non-profits, lawyers, government officials, appraisers, and other professionals engaged in farmland protection. The training will feature a field trip to a farm that VLT has worked to help the farmers access. This training is meant to build on and enhance the professional development opportunities offered by NYFC at our previous national and regional Land Access Innovations Trainings.
The training will be open to representatives of land trusts that have sent individuals to a previous Land Access Innovations Training held by NYFC, with priority given to land trust staff members working directly on farmland protection.
The training will take place within a 30-minute drive of Burlington, Vermont.
Wednesday, April 26 - Thursday, April 27th. 2017.
NYFC will send more details about the Vermont training in the coming months. More information about NYFC's land access work and past trainings can be found on their website.
NYFC wishes to thank the Whitehead Foundation, Cedar Tree Foundation, and UNFI Foundation for their generous support of this work.
